A photo of the lock on WhatsApp helps. 2. **You hear how long the drive is** An honest estimate for that address at that hour, not a promise of minutes. 3. **You show you can be there** An ID with the address, a rental contract, the booking, or the owner on the phone. If it is all inside, it is checked once the door is open. 4. **The price is agreed at the door** The locksmith looks at the lock, explains the options and agrees the price with you before starting. 5. **The door is opened and left secure** Through the lock where possible. Will anyone really pick up? Yes. The line is answered at any hour, every day of the year, including the busiest weeks of summer and the nights of the September fiestas. ### I am staying in a rented flat and the owner is abroad. Can you still open it? Usually, yes. Have the booking confirmation or the owner’s message ready on your phone, and if possible ask the owner or the agency to confirm by WhatsApp. That is enough for most rentals. ### The key broke in the lock and half of it is still inside. What should I do until you arrive? Nothing with it. Pins, tweezers and glue tend to push the broken half deeper or jam the cylinder for good. Keep the piece you have; it shows how and where it broke. ### Can you get to the old town at night when the streets are closed to cars? Yes. The van stops at the edge of the closed streets and the locksmith walks the rest with the tools.
